Embedded Video Support

Do you remember ? This is one of the topic Graham was asking last year !
My answer was : Maybe HTML5 is the answer !

So i made a little test, with some code inside a post :

Here are the results (+ the code). Please share your own experience in the comments (os, browser, mail reader) ! :

For the post, the video renders properly under Windows 7 (64bits) with Firefox 9, Chrome 16 and Safari 5.1. I.E. 8.0 (64 bits) displays the fallback text, link and image.
For the mail, the same html code under Gmail (any browser), the fallback text, link and image is displayed !

The code :

<p style='text-align:center;'>
<video width="400px" height="300px" controls="controls">
	<source src="http://blog.mailpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/surf.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
	<source src="http://blog.mailpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/surf.ogv" type="video/ogg" />
	<!-- fallback text, image & link -->
	<br>Your browser do not support the html5 video tag<br>
	<a href='http://blog.mailpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/surf.mp4'>
		<img src="http://blog.mailpress.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/surf.png" alt="surf" title="surf" width="400px" height="300px" class="size-full wp-image-450" />

I wish you (and me) the very best for 2012 !

    Cool, that worked for me. Can’t wait to have embedded YouTube videos work like this. :-)

    mh.. strange.. seems gmail blocks this.. doesn’t work within gmail, but after clicking it plays in a new tab – as expected with chrome..

    Hum ! Have you seen how mailchimp video tags are user friendly …
    Would only be possible with MailPress Mails, not MailPress Newsletters (videos are not included in wp posts the mailchimp way !).
